This schedule was shared between two on-board news staff and was arranged so that each had 12 (not continuous) hours rest a day.

Newsreaders normally worked 4 days on the ship with 2 rest days off, the day in between being spent at the landbased studios recording commercials  etc.



* The plane referred to was the one used to deliver programme tapes and other materials to the radio ship (see Radio Nord History).

5.00am

Wake-up, start collecting and editing news for the first bulletin at 6.00am

6-9.00am

Present the live programme "Nordnorgon", record news programmes from other stations and edit for use by Radio Nord, present hourly bulletins

9.00am

After breakfast continue with news collection and editing of stories for hourly bulletins

10.00and 11.00am

Present live news bulletins


12 noon

The plane* usually arrived with early editions of the evening papers containing local news items which had to be rewritten for the 1.00pm bulletin

1.00 and 2.00pm

Present the live programme "Siesta on Board" and news bulletins.

2-3.00pm

Log new  commercials received in the plane drop and sometimes produce inserts and commercials on tape, present  hourly bulletins.

3-5.00 pm

Prepare and write two special daily news  reports - "Around the World with Radio Nord", a  three minute item containing 'light' news and "Business News", a similar length item about events in the world of commerce.

5-7.00pm

Present updated hourly news bulletins

8-9.00pm

Occasionally  present another live programme, present hourly bulletins

9.00pm - 2.00am

9.00pm-2.00am live news bulletins every hour
