Away from Europe there were other offshore radio stations operating during the 1980s - including two off the coast of Israel. The Voice of Peace (which had been broadcasting since 1973) and relative newcomer Arutz Sheva which started transmissions in 1988.

Meanwhile in  America attempts were made twice (in 1987 and 1988) to launch an offshore radio station off the east coast. -  Radio New York International.  However, before regular transmissions could begin the station was boarded and silenced by the US authorities.
