Ocean Defender

A converted 111' (34 m) wooden Norwegian whaling vessel,  built in 1921.

She is used as a floating laboratory and rescue centre for oil and pollution operated by Earthkind, the National Welfare and Environmental Charity.

The Ocean Defender was used to broadcast a re-creation of  Radio London (operating under a Restricted Service Licence) between  17th December 1997 and  13th January 1998 from St Katherine’s Dock in London
