BBMS (Britain’s Better Music Station) - Technical



Transmitter

1Kw ex-USAF radio beacon (manufactured before the Second World War by RCA Victor), converted for broadcasting use


Aerial Height

BBMS replaced the Radio Essex scaffold pole aerial with  a ‘T' aerial - with lengths of copper wire slung between a pair scaffold poles

2 x Garrard 401 turntables

1 x Collaro turntable (used for adverts and station IDs, jingles etc)

2 x Vortexian tape machines

1 x Vortexian mixer, with studio console and controls

1 x Reslo RBT ribbon microphone
