Radio Veronica was already well established by the 1970’s, having started transmissions in April 1960.
The station underwent a major frequency change in September 1972, but the classic 192m sticker design, which had been in use for many years, was retained with a simple change to the new frequency of 538m. The same approach was adopted by supporters groups which produced stickers publicising Radio Veronica with 192m being replaced with 538m after September 1972
In 1973 the station mounted a huge campaign (Veronica Blijft) to try to fight the effects of Dutch legislation against offshore radio stations and publicity material was widely produced in support of this campaign.
